46 IMCA modifieds competed on Wednesday night. John was looking to get some more time in the Big Dog Chassis. John started his heat race in 7th and finished 9th. He couldn't get the car to turn and struggled with it. Top 3 in each heat race transferred directly to the A feature. The rest of the field was divided into 3 B features and the top 3 would transfer to the A. John lined up 9th in the second B. On the start the car was good, really good. He started passing cars, then a spin in front of him with 3 cars involved and he drives through it! It is only lap one and on the restart John is sitting in second! John went on to WIN the B feature and transfer to the A.
In the A John lined up on the inside of row nine or 17th. The car was pretty good for the first part of the race. Then in turn 3 and 4 a car spins out and takes John with him. John is given his spot back on the restart and is up to 14th. He is running about 12th when he spins out all on his own coming out of four. On the restart, he goes to the back and restarts in 20th. This race is 44 laps and there is a 3 min. pit stop on lap 22. All this happens before halfway.
At lap 22 John is sitting about 17th, the crew makes a wedge adjustment and changes two tires. The cars is much better! John starts picking his way through the field. With only 10 to go John is up to 7th! He ends up finishing 5th.
Top 6 finishers are: 97M David Murray, 33z Kyle Berck, 95 Dylan Smith, 16M Brack, 98 John Allen, 96 Johnny Saathoff.
Right now John is planning to run Humboldt Speedway on Friday and then on to Nevada Speedway on Saturday. Hope to see you there!
MURRAY WINS THE BATTLE WITH THE BIG DOGS AT I-80 SPEEDWAY

Starting in the 18th position, after transferring through one of the B Mains, David Murray claimed the Charlie Clark Memorial Tuesday night at I80 Speedway. The race marked the first stop on the Larry Shaw Blood Sweat and Tears (BST) Nebraska tour. The race featured several national IMCA champions, an NCRA Modified champion and several heavy hitters from the Central Region.
After the 46 car field was trimmed down for the A Main, Greg Peck and Johnny Saathoff led the 24-car field to the green flag for the start. Saathoff quickly jumped to the lead with Matt and Will Brack in tow. Jay Noteboom, Dylan Smith, Kyle Berck, David Murray and Jordan Grabouski started their march to the front. Murray started pressuring Saathoff and Murray led at the pit stop after 22 laps.
When racing resumed, it was a dogfight up front, and Kyle Berck tangled with
Noteboom sending Berck to the rear. Smith, Saathoff and Murray had a great battle for the lead as Berck came charging up again. Saathoff’s car faded back leaving Berck, Smith and Murray on a huge fight up front. With only a couple laps remaining, Murray used the line on top of the backstretch wall and still was the leader. The 3 fought tooth and nail to the finish with Murray taking the win, followed closely by Berck, Smith, Matt Brack and John Allen.
Will Brack, Saathoff, Matt Brack, Terry Richards and Red Monson claimed the heat races while the B Mains went to Smith, John Allen and Murray.
