John started on the pole of the second heat race.  He led every lap and collected the win.  After figuring passing points, John lined up for the A feature on the second row inside.  After battling with the 7jr of Jess Folk Jr., John went after the leader Scott Daniels.  Every time he would mount a challenge on the leader the yellow flag would fly.  John would then have to start over, with the double file restart he had to shake the 7jr before challenging the leader.  In the end he would have to settle for second.  Scott Daniels held on for the win.  John will be making his first appearance at Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, KS on Saturday.  Hope to see you there.



SCOTT DANIELS TRIUMPHS IN MODIFIED THRILLER AT HUMBOLDT!

   It was a real nail biter, maybe the best Modified feature race so far this year.

 

   Scott Daniels was hot. So hot that he earned a front row starting spot in the Modified feature, and used it to good advantage, leading from lap one. Then there was John Allen, cool as ice. While Daniels took off in front, Allen battled long and hard with Jess Folk, Jr. for second, finally making the tall side of The Hummer High Banks work for him. Once past the persistent Folk, Allen set his sights on the orange #9 in front of him.


Daniels, meanwhile, had to have had a pretty clear idea what he was up against, after seeing the front end of the #98 time and again. Lots of pressure, but Daniels played it just right, and won the first of two big races this weekend at Humboldt. Folk easily captured the third spot, while yet another fierce contest saw Jessy Willard edge Ryan Whitworth for fourth.


Dalton Kirk put on a clinical display of driving skill to win his first Humboldt B Mod feature of the season. (This on the heels of last weeks feature win at Warrensburg, Missouri.) Levi McGowen mounted a hard charge to claim second, with Ron Bolin, Jr. third. Jimmie Davis was fourth in the contest, with Jay Lamons, Jr. fifth.


Recent high school graduate and Humboldt newcomer Laura Ramey thrilled the crowd with a strong performance that fell only one lap short, as Jeremy Willard came from dead last to blow by on the last lap for the Pure Stock feature win.  Mike Aielo, who started beside Willard in the last row, finished third. Floyd Taggart tagged the fourth spot, with David Matlock fifth.


Intense best describes the Factory Stock feature that saw multiple lead changes before Derrek Wilson finaly took control for the win. Colton Bunn carried Wilson to the flag to finish second, with Brandon Wiede third, Blake Davis fourth, and Billy Shadden fifth.


Following on the heels of the Dwaine Whitworth Memorial on Sunday, next Friday marks the return of the USMTS Modified touring series to Humboldt Speedway. The following week, it's the Show Me Series Late Models.
