HUMBOLDT SPEEDWAY

STARTED 3RD
FINISHED 2ND

John started the first heat race on the front row outside.  He was able to win the race with about a half of a straightaway lead.  In the feature he started second row inside.  Johnny Bone Jr. started on the pole with Brian Bolin on the outside.  John was able to pass Brian for second on about the 5th lap.  By then Bone had about a straightaway lead on the field.  John set out to chase him down.  The race went green and John was unable to cut the lead Bone had.  Then, on the white flag lap, the yellow flag flew for some cars in turn three.  There was a green, white, checkered finish, but John was unable to get by Bone.  Bone went on to collect the win, John was second and Brian finished third.
John will be back in action tomorrow night at Caney Valley Speedway!  Hope to see you there!

BUNN'S ON A ROLL WITH FIRST FEATURE WIN AT THE HUMMER!

 by Scott Lee Stewart

After many a top five finish, Colton Bunn finally owns a feature win at Humboldt Speedway. And man, did he earn it! *Colton Bunn drove his Factory Stock to the win Friday night. Bunn captured the Friday night win in a thriller of a Factory Stock feature that featured multiple lead changes over the space of 15 laps. Runner up Brandon Tindle was the last car Bunn had to pass for the lead. Derrick Wilson overcame a trip to the rear of the field following a spin to finish third.Fourth went to Dustin Lawrence of Winfield, Ks., with Brandon Weide.

There is a new rule this year at the Hummer; in all classes except Modified, if you win three feature races, you get a head pulled on your motor to make sure your legal. Roger Oswald won his third Pure Stock feature Friday. Into the infield, and off with his head. (The engine's head, that is.) Surprise: Oswald was D. Q.'d! At press time, Jeremy Willard was awarded the victory, subject to examination of HIS motor. Mike Aielo moved up to third, Floyd Taggert fourth, and Eddie Coulter fifth.

*Scott Collins capitalized on a late race misfortune for Levi McGowen to pick up the B-Mod prize. Scott Collins racked up his first B-Mod feature of the 2010 season with a strong effort to hold off hard charging Jay Lamons, Jr. Tim VanGotten was in the hunt all race long and took third. Jerry Kustenborter was fourth, with Mike Letterman fifth.

It has been a rough year for Johnny Bone, Jr., but a wire to wire Modified feature win certainly had to boost the Arkansas driver's spirits. Bone had been in command clear up to the white flag lap, when a caution flag stopped the race and gave the rest of the field one final shot at the leader. In the end, Johnny Allen was the runner up, with Brian Bolin edging Whitey Folk for third. Cody Alger rounded out the top five. *Johnny Bone Jr drove away from the rest of the modified field on his way to the feature victory. Bone makes the sixth different winner in six weeks at the Hummer.

Next week is Kids Night, with bike races at half time. Vintage cars will also be added to the regular show.
