John started on the inside second row in the first heat race of the night. On the first lap he managed to take the lead. He never looked back and took the heat race win. That win put him on the pole for the A feature. He started next to #39 Gary Langworthy and, as usual, the two put on a great show. Gary took the high side on the start and John stayed low. Gary would have the advantage at the flag stand, but never did he get out of John's sights. Then, about lap 10 the two hit lapped traffic. That was the break John needed and he got up beside Gary on the back straight. With the tight side by side racing and the lapped cars on either side, John and Gary got together and John spun around. John never got out of the gas and managed to keep the #98 machine rolling. The yellow flag came out however, and John was told to go the back. Now nine laps left in the feature and John carefully drove back through the field up to second place again. The white flag flew and it looked for sure John would have to settle for runner up. Then, as the leaders were entering turn #3, the yellow flag flew again for a car stopped on the front straighaway. John would have one more chance to get by Gary with a green, white, checkered finish. That is just what he did, stuck the car on the bottom and motored to the lead to take his second win of the weekend.
That win was John's 199th career victory. He will be looking to get his 200th win on Sunday night at Heartland Park Topeka. Hope to see you there!
