TOP 10 WITH USMTS AT CANEY

STARTED 1ST

FINISHED 7TH

Very fortunate doesn't even begin to describe our journey as a race team for the last 25 years.  We have met some of the very best people in the world and have the honor to call many of them friends.  After breaking our last motor to our name Friday night at Humboldt, we were looking at staying home while Caney Valley Speedway would be hosting the biggest race of the year.  That is when Team Gressel, Ed Gressel and Scott Green, offered to let us use their back up car Saturday night.  Those of you that have seen the schedule for "The Hunt" know how important it is to have a back up car ready to pull out and race when you need it.  This was a great opportunity for us and we cannot begin to express our graditude for the generosity of Team Gressel.

John started the fourth heat race on the pole.  After several charges and some great side by side racing with the 20R, Bryan Rowland, John took the win.  He ended up 8th in passing points for the night out of 55 modifieds.  The top 13 in passing points went to the A feature with the top 8 redrawing for position.  Just like Friday night at Humboldt Speedway John was awarded the pole after all the other numbers were drawn.

John started the race with his chassis builder, Jason Hughes on the front row outside.  On the start Jason took the lead and John followed in 2nd.  The first and only yellow flag flew on lap 9.  On the restart, 5R of Morgan Bagley began to challenge John for second.  He made the pass and John was faced with holding off Tim Donlinger and Kelly Shryock.  Dustin Boney made the pass for third on the high side, he was the only one that could seem to make the top work.  The rest of the cars were fighting for position on the bottom, just waiting for the car in front of them to slip a little or make the smallest of mistakes.  John ended the night in 7th for his first finish with the USMTS of the week.  Not bad for racing a car he had never drove against the best modifieds in the country!

John is not sure if he wil be able to race this coming weekend, due to lack of anything under the hood, but check back later in the week to see what is happening!
