It looked to be beautiful day at Heartland Park. The sun was finally shining and everyone was ready to race! John started 6th in the 3rd heat race. He quickly moved through the field, took the lead and never looked back. In the feature he started outside row five and as he was almost completing lap two he was up to third! The yellow flag flew though and he had to go back to fifth for the the restart. On the restart he kept his car on the bottom and by lap five he took the lead! As the laps wore on number 18, Justin Boney, had his car on the top of the track and got by John. Everyone could tell Justin was having some trouble because at that point of the race there were some flames in his cockpit. John was hot on Justin's tail and they were going through some heavy lapped traffic. Then, with only 8 laps to go Justin drove into turn 3 and spun around. There were lapped cars on either side of him and John had no where to go. John turned the car and hit Justin pretty hard with the right side. John suffered some front end damage and was unable to continue.
John will be back at Humboldt Speedway tonight to make up for the race that rained out Friday. Hope to see you there!
