TOP 5 FOR JOHN AT HUMBOLDT USMTS

STARTED:  23RD

FINISHED:  5TH
John had some bad luck in the heat race Monday night.  He started 3rd row outside in the 2nd heat race.  On the start some cars got together and John got knocked into the wall.  He would not be able to finish the heat race.  John then started on the back of the 2nd B feature.  He would have to come from 11th to 5th to make it to the A.  He couldn't quite get the job done and finished 6th.  Since John is 4th in Mo-Kan Region Points he received a provisional start for the race.  The crew went to work on the car knowing the B feature set up needed some help.  Starting 23rd John passed 10 cars in the first 5 laps!  Throughout the race he stayed low around the track, passing cars as he got to them.  He made it up to 4th a couple of times only to have the yellow flag come out and put him back to 5th.  In the end it was Johnny Bone Jr. taking the feature win, Zack Vanderbeek second, Jason Krohn 3rd, Kelly Shryock 4th and John 5th.

John will be traveling with the USMTS on to Park City, KS on Tues night and Heartland Park Topeka on Wed.  Hope to see you there!

Bone comes up big in O'Reilly USMTS bout at Humboldt

HUMBOLDT, Kan. (Aug. 4) – On a smooth, fast racetrack that proved to be tough to find the fastest way around, Johnny Bone Jr. emerged as the driver too tough to tame as he led the final 31 laps of Monday's 40-lap main event for the O'Reilly USMTS National Tour at the Humboldt (Kan.) Speedway.

Local favorite Rodney Sigg of Iola, Kan., grabbed the lead at the start from his pole position and paced the first three laps before giving up the top spot to defending O'Reilly USMTS National Champion Jason Krohn of Slayton, Minn., who captured the USMTS event at Humboldt in March of last year.

Krohn's lead was short-lived, however, as Bone blasted into the lead just past the flagstand to lead lap 9.

From there, the Pea Ridge, Ark., veteran stretched his lead to nearly a straight-away, then survived a pair of late-race cautions and a closing Zack VanderBeek to pick up the $2,000 victory.

VanderBeek settled for the runner-up paycheck, but also collected the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award for passing 14 cars from his eighth row starting spot on the 25-car grid.

Krohn held on for third, Kelly Shryock raced from 17th to finish fourth, and John Allen from nearby Chanute, Kan., stormed from his 23rd starting spot to grab fifth at the finish.

Sixth through tenth, respectively, went to Jon Tesch, Jamie Burford, Justin "Whitey" Folk and Jess Folk Jr.

Shryock expanded his big lead in the Mo-Kan Region points standings over Tesch (874 to 768) while Jason Hughes dropped to third with 762 points. Allen is fourth with 736 markers, followed by Bone (694), Justin Boney (661), Brandon Kenny (647), VanderBeek (635), Krohn (603) and Gary Langworthy Jr. (552).
