Caney Valley Speedway

With Kerry Gorby having the grand opening of Caney Valley Speedway John and the crew decided to run down there.  John started on the back row of the first heat.  By the end of the first lap he had moved into second, behind polesitter Ryan Whitworth.  John followed Ryan for about six laps before getting by him in turn two.  John went on to win the heat race.  The feature lined up "heads up" and since John won the first heat he would start on the pole.  Gary Langworthy, winner of the second heat started front row outside.  The race took awhile to get started.  After one completed lap the yellow flag flew.  This would happen two more times.  Finally, with three laps down the race got underway.  John had been running the bottom and driving away from the pack.  On about lap five he decided to see if the track was any better a little higher.  Gary Langworthy was right on his tail and used the opportunity to sneak under John for the lead.  He would lead the remainder of the race.  John would settle for second and Ryan Whitworth, who started 7th would finish third.
