HUMBOLDT BY WAY OF LAKESIDE

FINISHED: DNF - drive shaft yoke broke

We left town at 3pm as usual on Friday for Lakeside Speedway. At about 5pm after reaching Olathe Marc Olson called to say the races were postponed due to rain. We turned around and headed home hoping to be able to race at Humboldt Speedway. We made it in time, but we were welcomed with more showers. The races were delayed about an hour, but they were able to get the show in.
John started 3rd in the 2nd of 3 heat races. It was a good heat race. Ryan Whitworth (63) started on the pole and Johnny Bone Jr. (12) started on the outside of John. On the start Ryan took the lead and John raced beside his for about 6 laps. Finally on a restart John wrestled the lead away from Ryan and took the win. Johnny Bone Jr. finished 2nd.
John had the 2nd most passing points on the night. Humboldt started a new rule last week and the top 6 in passing points are inverted. John would start the A feature on the 3rd row inside. The first 10 laps of the A would see many cautions. On the second restart John flew from 5th to 2nd by turn one. It was really something to see. John and Johnny Bone Jr. would start the restarts side by side with Brian Bolin (x2) on the pole. Sometimes John would be on the inside and sometimes Johnny would be. On one of the restarts John was on the outside and when he came out of turn 2 he lost power and pulled in the pits. The drive shaft yoke had broke and he was out for the night.
