STARTED: 4TH, DNF
37 modifieds were on hand to compete at Lakeside Speedway in KC, KS on Friday night. John started 7th in the first heat race. The track was very slick and it was hard to pass, the top 5 would transfer to the A feature. John finished 5th. This put him second row outside for the feature. It took about 5 laps to get by the 2nd and 3rd place cars and then he settled into to second to work on the leader and pole sitter, Allan Lawrence. John worked on Allan for the first half of the race. There weren't too many places he could pass and he was waiting to find a good way around him. Then on lap 13 the top two hit lapped traffic. Going into turn one Allan went high to pass the 0 car. John followed him, but just as he was almost by him the 0 car hit John and slammed him hard into the wall. John got airborne, but kept going in 3rd posistion. The car was damaged but he could maintain 3rd. On lap 22 the yellow flag flew again. John was just about to pass the 3 of Bubba Harvey for second and would have to go back to third. On the restart Allan was still leading, the #24 (a lapped car) was placed in second, Bubba in 2nd and John 3rd. On the first lap a car go into the wall in turns one and two, major sheet metal was left on the track, but no yellow flag. The #24 hit the sheet metal in turn one and slammed into the wall. John was going high to get around him and had no where to go, he was collected by yet another lapped car. John's night would end there with being pulled in by the tow truck. Only 10 modifieds finished this race.
John will not be able to race Saturday at Adrian, MO as scheduled. He will be at Humboldt Speedway on Friday, June 13th. Hope to see you there!
