GIMME FIVE!!

STARTED 4TH

FINISHED FIRST!!

21 modifieds were on hand Friday night for "Jam the Stands" at the Hummer!  John started 5th in the second heat race.  He barely made it up to finish second at the flag stand.  That put him 4th in passing points for the night.

In the A John started 2nd row outside and outside he where he would make his move.  The beginning of the race saw many yellow flags and that means many restarts.  John would just be getting his groove on and the yellow flag would fly.  Finally the track officals decided to do a single file restart.  John was in 3rd.  After finally getting three good green flag laps in a row John roared to the lead!  He stretched out his lead and lapped about four cars when the final yellow flag flew.  We still had about four laps left and now everyone was right behind him.  John took off and the 77 of Steven Bowers Jr was in hot pursuit.  He managed to get up beside John in turn one, but John took off and never looked back for his fifith win of the season!

John will be back at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO on Saturday and Sedailia, MO on Sunday.  Hope to see you there!!

Allen, VanGotten winners on Fan Appreciation Night at Humboldt Speedway
by Scott Lee Stewart

HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- As we all know, without the loyal support of racing fans our sport could not exist. With that in mind, Humboldt Speedway promoters Ron, Rhenda and Ryan Whitworth threw the spectator gates wide open Friday night (no charge for general admission) as a way of saying thanks.

To say that the night was tremendous would be an understatement. More than 3,600 people packed every available seat. When asked, a surprising number of them had never been to the Humboldt Speedway before. Fans were treated to a truly great night of racing.

John Allen used all of his considerable driving skill in winning the USRA Modified feature, passing and being passed numerous times before settling into a comfortable groove that led to victory, despite intense pressure from runner-up Steven Bowers Jr., who was on Allen's back bumper at the finish line.

After announcing his retirement earlier in the season, Justin "Whitey" Folk saddled up brother Jess's ride and blasted from near the back of the 21-car field to claim third. Both Jessy Willard and Scott Daniels ran strong early, before finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.

USRA B-Mod action was dominated by Tim VanGotten, as "The Hammer" wired the field for his second win in as many weeks. Jeremy Chambers was second in the event, followed by Jimmie Davis, Curt Drake and Blake Kisner.

Next week, in addition to the regular show, will be mechanic's races.
