17 modifeds were in Humboldt on Friday night. John outside of the front row in the 3rd and final heat race. He took the win! That finish put him starting the A feature on the inside of row 2. On lap 5 John passed for 2nd. The leader and polesitter of #118 Terry Beckham had a sizable lead. John began to run him down. After a couple of laps the yellow flag flew, it would be the only yellow of the race. On the restart John went high and passed Terry for the lead on lap 10. John's car was good, but Terry was able to pull up beside John and even pass him at times during the neck and neck race for next several laps. Finally while coming out of turn 4 for the white flag the two hit lapped traffic. John dove and tried to fit between Terry and the lapped car. He almost made it, but got together with the lapped car and spun. He tried to get it going again but spun again in turns 1 and 2 from damage in the front end. John scored his first DNF in weekly USRA racing at Humboldt Speedway. John will back in USRA action on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO. Hope to see you there!

Beckham gets USRA Modified win at Humboldt

HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- It was a thriller in the USRA Modifieds Friday at the Humboldt Speedway as John Allen and Terry Beckham II dueled lap after lap, trading the lead on multiple ocassions.

Late in the 25-lap event with Beckham in the lead, Allen encountered a lapped car. The resulting crash finished the race for Allen and Beckham took the checkers.

Steven Bowers Jr. finished a strong second while Mickey Burrell, Cody Schniepp and Austin Siebert rounded out the top 5.

The Ray's Metal Depot USRA B-Mod feature became a well-driven, hard-fought affair won by Brad Smith of Belton, Mo.

Jack Simmons was able to best Tim VanGotten for runner-up.

Back from motor trouble, Riley Whitworth took fourth with Jimmie Davis fifth.

Coming up: USMTS returns to the Speedway on Aug. 10. "Pack the Stands" Fan Appreciation Night is Aug. 17.
