Only 14 modifieds showed up for the Friday night show at Humboldt Speedway and after hot laps there were only 12. John started on the back of the second heat race and finished 2nd. They were side by side at the finish and one more lap would have most likely seen a different winner.

In the A feature John started 2nd row inside. He quickly moved to second behind outside polesitter 9d of Scott Daniels. The two were a good match as they went at it side by side, lap after lap. John finally looked as if he had the lead with only 5 laps to go. Then contact was made with Daniels and the yellow came out for another car with only two laps remaining. John's driver door was sticking out for the restart. He did all he could, but Daniels took his first win of the season and John had to settle for second.

John will be back in action on Saturday at the Salina Highbanks in Salina, OK. Hope to see you there!

Drake Races To Big Payday at Humboldt

A superstitious time for racing on a cooler night, on a perfectly prepped race track in southeast Ks.

Scott Drake wires the field in the NCRA vs. USRA B-mod Challenge – Drake topped a strong field of 38 cars. Drake lead the field from flag to flag and out ran NCRA sport-mod hot shoe Travis Johnson. Jeremy Chambers cruises to a 3rd place finish from inside row 5 starting spot. The 62 car piloted by Jack Simmons was 4th and 01 of Jimmie Davis rounded out the top 5. Picking up the 100 dollar Allens Automotive Hard Charger Award was the #19x Curt Drake

Tyler Kidwell scoffs in the face of superstition

20 year old Tyler Kidwell picks up his 13th win of the year on Friday the 13th.
Finishing 3rd behind the #52 Derek Michael and apparent winner the #22 Levi
Phillips… Through the watchful eye of tech official Carl Flowers we unfortunately
had a couple of infractions in the Pure Stock class. Hats off to the #71 Michael
Aiello ends up 2nd after starting in the last row.

Jason Thurman pilots his rocket ship to victory lane

#66 Thurman was very fast early on, as the field of tough factory stocks behind him,
got their wheels. That is just what they did as the best race of the evening went 3
wide for multiple laps. With #154Todd Kidwell storming the high line around the high
banks #62 David Matlock in the middle and the #25 Clint Drake all battling it out
for second. With Kidwell “On the loud pedal” taking the lead, only to have Thurman
power back by on the bottom. After some shuffling the #25 Clint Drake worked his way
up to second and pressured for the lead. 3rd went to #62 David Matlock, and 4th Todd
Kidwell, 5th to the 30 of Jarred Johnson.

Scott Daniels chalks up USRA modified win!!!

“Fast Orange” Scott Daniels outruns the “Chanute Chauffeur” John Allen in a nail
biter. Daniels dominated the first 20 laps only to have a caution bring the charging
#98 of Allen to his bumper. On the restart they went side by side switching the lead
at the flag stand several times. One more caution had everyone on their feet, as a
green, white, checkered finish was in store. Daniels drove a perfect two more laps
to victory lane!!! John Allen was 2nd, 3rd went to the lurking 7jr Jess Folk Jr, 4th
to the #30 Dalton Kirk from his 10th starting spot, rounding out the top 5 #21c Cody Schniepp.
