STRONG RUN FROM THE BACK AT NEVADA

For the first time in two years John and team traveled to Nevada, MO for the modified special.  Nineteen modifieds ran three heat races.  John drew 88 which turned out to be the highest number drawn for the night.  He started 7th in the first heat race.  On the first lap of the heat the 00 of Kevin Morrow spun in front of John.  John just about had him cleared when Kevin stomped on the gas, hooked John and spun John around knocking down a tire.  The crew went to work to get it changed, but were told that there was no changing a tire in the heat race.  John was done for qualifying. 

In the A feature only one car did not start the race so John ended up starting 18th, dead last.  After four laps the first yellow flag flew and John was already up to 12th.  On the restart a bunch of cars slowed going into turn one and a car got into the left quarter panel of John and spun.  The yellow came out again and the Nevada Speedway crew worked to straighten John's quarter panel back out.  That was the end of the yellow flags as the 30 lap race went green from then on.  John managed to drive up to finish 8th.  Another yellow or two would have been great as John was clearly the fastest car on the track and was putting on a great show.  Johnny Bone Jr. took the win from the front row.
