ANOTHER 3RD TO START OFF THE 3-DAY WEEKEND

STARTED 6TH

FINISHED 3RD

20 modifieds were divided into 3 heat races Friday night at Humboldt Speedway.  John started third in the third heat race.  He finished 2nd.  When he came in he talked to his dad about the motor and they decided to change the carburator.  In the A feature John started 3rd row outside.  He was fast on the start and quickly raced up to third or fourth.  As the race went on, it was green the entire way, he kept having trouble in the corners and Johnny Bone Jr. got back by him.  Polesitter, Justin Folk took the early lead and Johnny Bone Jr. was able to run him down and pass him for the win.  John held on for all he could and finished third.  The motor was still sputtering in every corner and John thought it was going to die.  They will get in tuned in today and we will head to 81 Speedway in Park City, KS for the NCRA vs USRA challenge race.  Hope to see you there!

Bone gets by Folk late, takes second straight at Humbodlt
by Scott Lee Stewart

HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- Friday night's USRA Modified feature action at the Humboldt Speedway saw Justin "Whitey" Folk blast off into the lead, but 25 laps is a long time to be out front, especially with a posse of big dogs in tow, including (cue the theme from "Jaw's") Johnny Bone Jr.

Bone waited paitently, passing one, then two, now he's into lapped traffic, roughly three-car lengths behind Folk. Together, they rocket into a pack of lapped cars.

Both drivers were blasting through traffic, but suddenly, with just the hint of an opening, Bone is in the lead. And, with three laps left, he will not be challenged.

Bone made it three in a row while Folk gave it his all, but fate dealt him second place.

Third was John Allen, Tanner Mullins came home in fourth and Randy Zimmerman wound up fifth.

USRA B-Mod action saw Jeremy Chambers scoring a well-deserved win.

Outside pole sitter Curt Drake was second.

Tim VanGotten, Jeremy Wilson and Jimmie Davis rounded out the top 5.

Part 2 of the Memorial Day Weekend festivities at 'The Hummer' will be Sunday, May 27, with the annual Dewaine Whitworth Memorial featuring USRA vs NCRA Modifieds, along with all the other classes.

B-Mods will get the night off on Friday, June 1, as the MLRA late Models make their first appearance at Humboldt in 10 years. Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Factory Stock will run as well.
