24 modifieds were divided into 3 heat races at Humboldt on Friday night. This was the first week John didn't start on the front row of his heat race. He started 6th in the first heat. He raced hard, but needed another yellow to race for the heat race win. He finished 2nd to the 9d of Scott Daniels.
In the A feature John started front row outside. He took the lead at the start and led the first 10 laps when the first yellow flag flew. On the restart John again took the lead, but got in a little too high in one and two and hit the wall. He knocked off half the spoiler and kept going, but was in 4th. He continued in 4th for the next several laps as the yellow flag kept coming out and he never was able to make anything happen. Finally, in the closing laps there was a long green run and John was able to pass a couple of cars to get back up and finish 2nd. Johnny Bone Jr. took the win and Scott Daniels was 3rd.
