CANEY VALLEY SPEEDWAY

STARTED 6TH

FINISHED 5TH

Only 13 modifieds were at Caney, KS on Thursday night for the SMP race.  They were divided into two groups.  John was in the second group and was last to run time trials.  He was third fastest in his group.  That finish put John starting on the outside front row of the second heat race.  He lead a lot of the race, but ended up second.

In the A, John started sixth.  The track by this time was very one lane on the bottom and there was little passing.  John was up to third at one time, but to yellows within the last five laps moved him back to finish 5th.  Johnny Bone Jr. took the win, Dustin Boney was 2nd, Kyle Schmidt, Nathan Mayes, and John Allen rounded out the top five in the final finishing order.

Due to low car count the SMP race scheduled for Caney on Friday has been canceled.  John will be racing at Humboldt Speedway.  Hope to see you there!!

Bone snares COMP Cams SMP round at Caney Valley

Caney, KS - July 22, 2011
By: Ben Shelton

Johnny Bone Jr. became the first repeat winner on the 2nd Annual COMP Cams SMP Speedweek by topping the 25 lap feature at Caney Valley Speedway (Caney, Kansas).

After setting fast time in MRW Racing Wheels Pole Qualifying, Bone Jr. started on the pole for the $1,200-to-win feature alongside Tyler Townsend, who set fast time in his group.

Bone Jr. would bolt to the lead at the start of the feature, and would survive a handful of cautions to ride the low line en route to the win. Dustin Boney, Kyle Schmidt, Nathan Mayes, and John Allen rounded out the top five in the final finishing order.

The RacingJunk.com first heat was won by Dustin Boney with Kyle Schmidt winning the MRW Racing Wheels second heat.

The 2nd Annual COMP Cams SMP Speedweek event for Friday night at Caney Valley Speedway (Caney, Kansas) has been canceled. Saturday night’s $2,000-to-win event at Mid America Speedway (South Coffeyville, Oklahoma) is still on as scheduled. For more information, please visit www.SMPSeries.com.
