ANOTHER TOP 5 AT HUMBOLDT SPEEDWAY!!

STARTED 9TH

FINISHED 5TH

36 SMP modifieds gathered at Humboldt Speedway for the $1500 to win show.  The cars were divided into groups.  They hot lapped witht their group and then they were given two laps to time trial with their group.  The fastest car in each group would go straight to the A feature.  Everyone else would line up for heat races in their group based on their time trials.  John was the very first car to go out in the first group.  He ended up being second fastest of ALL the cars.  He then started on the pole of the first heat race.  He led the race until a yellow came out with only three laps to go.  He ended up running second.  That finish put him starting fifith row inside of the feature.  He quickly started passing cars and heading towards the front.  The first yellow flag came out on lap 15 (halfway) and John was up to 6th.  Then with only 7 laps to go the yellow flag flew again, John was still 6th.  In the closing laps John found something on the top to pass the 1K of Tim Karrick and ended up finishing 5th.  The 12 of Johnny Bone Jr. and the 22 of Dustin Boney put on a great show racing side by side for the win.  Boney would barely win over Bone, Jess Folk Jr was 3rd, Justin Folk 4th and John rounded out the top 5.

John is heading to Hutchinson Fairgrounds for the NCRA modified nationals on Saturday and back to Muskogee, Ok for another SMP race on Sunday.  Hope to see you there!

Southern Modified Promotions (SMP) honored Humboldt Speedway by choosing to kick off their annual Speedweek at The Hummer.

36 Modifieds time trailed and raced for a spot in the 22 car A feature, a 30 lap affair that paid the winner $1500.00 to win. The event also allowed local drivers to match their skills against those who race nationwide.

The main event was a thriller. Kansas City's Dustin Boney, a stand out driver anywhere he races, bested hard driving Johnny Bone, Jr., a frequent Humboldt competitor, in a head to head duel over the closing seven laps of the race. Most impressive as well was the performance of a trio of local drivers; Jess Folk, Jr., Whitey Folk, and Johnny Allen, who not only rounded out the top five, but were in contention through the entire affair.

In B-Mod action; Jeremy Chambers wrestled the lead away from Tim VanGotten in the closing laps to win the EZ Lock and Key sponsored feature. Dalton Kirk finished a close third, while Jimmie Davis came from fifteenth to fourth. Dustin Tholen was fifth.

Jeremy Wilson bested Ethan Lamons in an intense Factory Stock feature win. Lamons was the driver who ended Wilson's win streak several weeks ago, and had himself been on a winning spree of late. Derrek Wilson scored the third spot, ahead of Billy Shadden and Brandon Weide.

Jeremy Willard wired the field in the Whitworth Construction Pure Stock feature, edging out a strong run by runner up Derek Michael. Tyler Kidwell came from deep in the field to claim third, Mike Aielo was fourth, and Toby Eble fifth.

Next week at The Hummer: The Show Me Late Model Series will be present, along with the regular program
