JOHN SCORES 6TH WIN OF 2009!

STARTED 1ST

FINISHED 1ST
Sometimes it just isn't fair to the other drivers when John qualifies for the pole. John started front row outside in his heat and won it, that put him on the pole for the feature. As soon as the green flag dropped, John shot to the lead and never looked back. As the laps clicked by, so did John's lead. He won the race by a full straightaway. Finishing second was outside front row starter Jess Folk Jr and third was Justin Folk, finishing where he started also.
John will be back at Caney Valley Speedway on Saturday. Hope to see you there!

WILSON, LETTERMAN HEADLINE GREAT RACING AT HUMBOLDT SPEEDWAY!

by Scott Lee Stewart

Jeremy Wilson won Friday night's Factory Stock feature at Humboldt Speedway. The way he did it, along with his fellow racers, was an absolute thing of beauty.

Wilson, along with John Rossen of Niotaze, Oklahoma locked up when the green flag fell. Back and fourth, side by side, sliding corners like they were joined together, the pair traded the lead, but surprisingly little paint. You could see the crowd going nuts, on their feet, cheering the warriors on. Meanwhile, Derrek Wilson, who crashed in hot laps and missed the heat, steadily picked off his opponents one by one from the back of the field, until he to began to challenge for the lead. the lead pair blasted thru lapped traffic, any advantage gained soon evaporated. Untill the white flag.....

By now it's do or die. Nearly even at the flag, Rossen and Wilson flew into a pack of lapped cars. Wilson went low, Rossen went high; into the berm that sucked him straight into the turn one wall.

Yellow flag. It's Wilson vs Wilson now. Green, white, checkered. Derrek driving as hard as he dares, watches Jeremy take a well earned checkered flag. Meanwhile, Patrick Kay has made his way through the lapped cars to take third. Curtis Wilson, Jr. and Karl Churning round out the top five.

Mike Letterman is a B-Mod veteran, a gamer, a real competitor who runs hard, but somehow is never the lead dog at the end.

     Not tonight.

Mike litterally put both feet flat on the floor in his feature and simply refused to loose. This despite intense pressure from runner-up Rick Aiello, Paden Phillips, Nathan Ellison, and Scott Collins. the latter four were slicing and dicing the whole race long, and all four were contenders. Letterman, however, drove the coolest, most collected race of his life, every inch the seasoned driver, and took his first feature of '09, his second feature win at The Hummer.

Then there were the Turf Cars, tiny sprint cars, powered by Honda, on tires that look like somebody swiped em' off your riding mower. Drivers young as eleven years of age, with unbelieveable nerve. Sensational driver Kinzer Edwards, who's way too young to drive on the street, blitzed the field for the win. Jeff Griggs was second, Ryan Truitt third. Cole Curtis and Dustin Dixon rounded out the top five.

Then there's John Allen, who once raced at The Hummer when he was too young to drive the streets. John has no problem getting that liscence now, and has a liscence to fly as well, it seems. After a couple of wrecks early forced heads up restarts, the green flew and Allen was gone faster than this month's rent money. In the ensuing battle for second, Whitey Folk blasted by his brother Jess Jr. late in the race, only to get blasted back at the next corner. "Pee Wee" finished second, Whitey third, followed by Rodney Sigg and Travis Smith.

     Late Models return next week.
