Bidinger, Brad Dibben & Sean Foster Add Their Names To The '09 Winner's List At Lakeside Speedway
Kansas City, KS - The Memorial Day Holiday got started on Friday night. Some fans and racers might have made other plans than heading out to their local dirt track. The fans that stayed and decided to get their holiday weekend after seeing some great races, got their dreams filled at Lakeside Speedway on Friday night. As the final checkered flag dropped for the night, 3 new winners were added to the growing list in 2009.
Nic Bidinger has seen his share of success at Lakeside Speedway over the years. Just a year ago he took home 12 wins in the Grand National division. This season Bidinger has moved up to the Modified division and he had yet to taste victory. That was until tonight.
Starting outside the front row, Bidinger engaged in an early battle with Joe Cobb for the top spot. Trying not to get rattled, Bidinger would stay calm and work his way back around and away from Cobb at the top spot. A move he seemed comfortable with.
It wouldn't take long to move into the top spot. The question would remain, 'With all of the competition at Lakeside Speedway, could he hang on to it until the end?' The only one who could answer that question was Bidinger himself.
A couple of lenghty red flags kept the crowd waiting as the field went through their 25 circuits. Each time the yellow reared it's ugly head, Bidinger would answer the call by taking the lead on the restarts and putting some distance between himself and the rest of the field.
After the last yellow it looked as if Bidinger might have met his match. Tim Karrick started in the 21st starting position on the night. The former Lakeside Speedway track champion was poised to make a run at the top spot, which was held by a rookie in the Modified ranks.
The green flag once again dropped on the competition and it was Bidinger he would take the lead. Karrick lap after lap would get closer to Bidinger, but he would not be able to mount the charge past the young points leader. It was Bidinger's first win in the Modified division at Lakeside Speedway.
Karrick settled for 2nd place, 3rd went to Kerry Davis, 4th was Cobb and rounding out the top 5 was John Washburn.
