NCRA Modifieds Back in Action July 4th Weekend

PARK CITY, Kan. (June 29, 2008) - The O'Reilly/NCRA modified series presented by ICM/Ethanol will be back in action for a big 4th of July weekend as drivers embark on the big, fast half mile oval of the Belleville Highbanks in Belleville, Kansas on Friday night before heading south to 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas for a Saturday night affair.
Dan Daniels of Humboldt, Kansas comes into the weekend the current points leader for the NCRA modified series with a slim fifteen point advantage over 5-time defending series champion Brian Franz of Halstead, Kansas. The father-son duo of Brenden and Troy Gemmill of Ponca City, Oklahoma sit third and fourth respectively while Brian Casey sits fifth in the point standings.
Rookies in the modified division are a plenty with Jordan Whitehead of Andover, Kansas leading Edmond, Oklahoma's Tyler Propps by eight points. Other drivers competing with rookie status with the series includes Bob Lane, Brandon Morton, Tony Foster, Jeremy Green, Nic Baalman and Jim Pearcy.
Through three events during this 2008 race season, three different winners have reached victory lane. Among them are Jeremy Massey (opener at 81 Speedway), Daniels (Humboldt) and Franz at the last event that was held at Enid Speedway Park in Enid. Also, 76 drivers from five states have competed in at least one series event, 21 of those competing in all three events thus far.
The famed Belleville Highbanks gates open at 5:30 PM with the first green flag falling at 7:30 PM. The track is located two miles north of US 36 on US 81, then one half mile southeast on M Street to 7th, then 0.1 mile east (located near water tower) at the North Central Kansas Fairgrounds where camping is available. The National Championship Racing Association is entering it's 38th season of sanctioning dirt track races, this year in five different states in its sprint car, modified and late model divisions combined. The 2008 race season will see the series' modified division compete for the 11th consecutive year.
