John started 7th and finished 3rd in his heat race.  In the A feature he started inside row 3.  On the start he realized he had no front brakes.  The track was really one lane on the bottom and since he couldn't hold the car down there with no brakes he had fallen back to 8th.  He decided to go to the top and see if he could make something happen.  He passed for 3rd as the final yellow flag flew and had to go back to 4th.  He ended up 4th in the 03 modified owned by Bobby Hunt.
