Wheatland, Missouri (July 17, 2016) - What a difference 24 hours made for Jared Landers.
One night after destroying his primary car in a wild, end-over-end flip, Landers picked up one of the biggest wins of his career in front of a big crowd at Lucas Oil Speedway.
"Man, this is awesome," Landers said Saturday night after winning the 10th annual CMH Diamond Nationals, earning $12,000 and a diamond ring. Jimmy Owens was second, just falling short of his fourth Diamond Nationals triumph, and Jonathan Davenport was third.

It was Landers' second Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory of the season - the other May 27 at Lucas in the Don and Billie Gibson Memorial on the Show-Me 100 undercard. This one - which was co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil MLRA - came in his backup car after he flipped his Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car in qualifying on Friday at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill.
Landers, of Batesville, Ark., held off Owens in a three-lap shootout at the finish following the race's fourth caution, on lap 57, Owens was unable to duplicate his victory earlier this year at Lucas Oil Speedway in the Show-Me 100.
"My crew worked their butts off," Landers said of getting the car ready. "I put them through torture. That car we crashed was brand new. This is a reward for them guys. They deserve it more than I do."
With a rough area in turn two, Landers said it was imperative not to "mess up" near the finish as Owens, Davenport and Scott Bloomquist gave chase.

Bloomquist restarted third on the final green, but faded to fifth behind Tim McCreadie. Davenport slid past both and into third over the last three laps.
Landers said he was driving with a sore hand after the Friday crash, making it difficult to hang onto the steering wheel at times as the car hit bumps.
"I knew Jimmy and Scott behind me were ... waiting for me to mess up and pass me and take advantage of a rough race track," Landers said. "It's awesome to out-run these guys. Last time we won here it wasn't a points night. We've been needing one. This is awesome."
Owens, of Newport, Tenn., said his best hope was for Landers "to jump the cushion a little higher and mess up a little worse than me. But every time he did, I did. Jared got to where he was pushing and I was pushing. He got us tonight."
"We had a really good hot rod tonight. Our hats are off to Jared and his crew, they did a great job tonight," Owens added. "Coming back to win tonight after what happened to him last night says a lot about them."
Davenport, the reigning series champ who hasn't won since May, said his finish was encouraging. The Blairsville, Ga., driver rallied after falling as far back as ninth after starting in row four.
"We haven't run good in a long time," Davenport said. "We're working on this thing and getting better. We snuck up through there. It almost feels like a win. We haven't been up there in a while."
Landers took the lead on lap 14 and never relinquished it. Polesitter Brandon Sheppard led the opening lap before McCreadie took over until Davenport assumed the top spot.
Shepperd, McCreadie, Landers and Owens won the heat races after Robert Baker of Alexander, Ark., set fast time at 15.300 seconds.

Wolff earns USRA Mod win: Tyler Wolff held off Jeff Cutshaw to capture the Pitts Homes USRA Modified 30-lap feature, earning $750 courtesy of Hermitage Lumber.
Wolff, of Fayetteville, Ark., started outside of row three and moved to the lead early in the race. Bolivar's Cutshaw, the season points leader, earned this seventh top-three finish of the season. Mitch Keeter of Webb City slid past John Allen of Chanute, Kan., out of the last turn for third.
Next up: The National Wild Turkey Federation and Lucas Oil Racing TV team up to present the Budweiser Weekly Championship Series next Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway.
It's the final Super Saver Special Night of 2016 as fans arriving before 6:30 p.m. can receive four admissions, four hot dogs and four 20-ounce Coca-Cola products for $30.
The ALPS Food Stores ULMA Late Models will be featured, running a special $25-lap, $1,000-to-win feature in memory of Ron Jenkins, original builder of Wheatland Raceway. The Ozark Golf Cars B-Mods, Carson's Corner NAPA Street Stocks and Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds also will be in action.
Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:30.

Lucas Oil Speedway is located at Highways 83 and 54 in Wheatland, Missouri. A campground with shower and bathroom facilities is also available.
