STARTED 4TH
FINISHED 2ND
20 modifieds were on hand Friday night at "The Hummer." John started second row inside and finished 2nd to Paden Phillips. He didn't know it then, but that was just how the feature would go down also. John started second row outside and Paden started front row outside. The two took off to the front and all John saw for most of the race was the backend of Paden. Paden led the entire race, the only yellow came with only three to go. It was daunting to watch the two dance through lapped traffic until that yellow flag did fly. John took one last run at the 9d8, but had to settle for second. Jeremy Chambers was third.
BMODS
STARTED 3RD
DNF
Only 11 b-mods gathered for the Friday night race at Humboldt Speedway. Dylan started 3rd in the first heat race. He made a great move on the start and was leading after lap one. He lead a couple of laps before the #54 of Tyler Kidwell took the lead and Dylan had to settle for 2nd. The crew went to work and changed the gear before the feature. Dylan started 3rd in the feature also, but on the started he was ran into and that knocked the rear quarter panel into his tire. He made it for more than half of the race, but before he could finish the right rear was flat and he had to pull in.
They both will be racing at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday....hope to see you there!
Paden Phillips triumphs at Humboldt
By Scott Lee Stewart (Humboldt, KS) — Beginning this season, promoters Ryan and Rhenda Whitworth instituted a policy where, if any person, group, or sponsor wants to add money to the purse of any class, the Humboldt Speedway will match their donation. Thanks to a dedicated group of track officials at The Hummer (The Pit Crew, if you will, those fellows in the USRA shirts), Friday night boasted a $750.00 to win USRA Modified purse.

Which worked out very well for “Payday” Paden Phillips, who engineered a beautifully driven feature win in an excellent race. From the start, Phillips had the lead. And from lap one, Phillips was pursued by his mentor, John Allen. As the race progressed, the duo began lapping parts of the 20 car field, a place where Allen excels at passing. Phillips was fearless however, and provided not the slightest opening. At the end of the 20 lap feature, Phillips and Allen were 1 and 2, Jeremy Chambers was third, Scotty Bough fourth, and Lucas Conley fifth.
Fresh from a 1,2,3 finish in the USRA Stock Car division last week at Heartland Park Topeka, the Fast three, Jeremy Wilson, David Matlock, and Tyler James were at it again, this time at home. Wilson won, Matlock was runner up, James third, Scott Collins fourth, and Ken Colston fifth.
In USRA B-Mod action, Tyler Kidwell swept both heat and feature, holding off Topeka driver and runner up Dustin Thulin. Tim VanGotten recorded a strong third place finish, Mike Letterman and Jimmie Davis rounded out the top five.
Overcoming early race mechanical issues, Derrek Wilson rallied for yet another victory in the Pure Stock division. The best part of this contest was the battle for second, won by Don McIntosh. Mitch Coulter was third, Wayne Johnson fourth, and Mike Churning fifth.
Next Friday night will be Mid Season Championship at The Hummer.
