STARTED 12TH
FINISHED 5TH
By noon Humboldt Speedway had already annouced not to race Friday night because of rain. John and team went into action getting the car ready to race in Kansas City, KS at Lakeside Speedway. We had already decided to run in LaMonte, MO so John decided to spend the night up north and that changes who can go on the trip. John took out alone for KC knowing car owner and son David and Toby Harrison along with Ketih Culberson would be there to crew for him at Lakeside.
John started 4th in the 4th heat race and finished 2nd. That finish put him starting 6th row outside of the A feature. On lap 3 John was already up to 8th. On lap 7 Joe Cobb broke in front of us causing lots of body damage and John was up to 6th. John ended up finishing 5th with a broken right side control arm. Lots of body work to do this week, but John is headed to LA Raceway in LaMonte, MO tonight! Hope to see you there!
Karrick holds off Bidinger at Lakeside
By Bob Libbey (Kansas City, KS) — Tim Karrick took advantage of a great handling car and some lady luck on his way to a second win of the season in the USRA A-Modifieds. Joe Cobb was running strong to begin the race until getting side-swiped by Jared Steins during a caution. While the damage looked minimal it was enough for both to fall from the race early. Mark Schafman inherited the lead and held strong until contact with the concrete caused him to fall backward. Karrick took advantage of Schafman’s ailing car and took the lead on lap-16. From there he just had to run hard and consistent to keep current point leader, Nic Bidinger, and Heat-1 winner, Cody Agler, from overtaking him. They would finish second and third while Jason Bodenhamer and John Allen rounded out the top-five.
“Racing on the River’s Edge” continues every Friday night through October with the USRA A-Modifieds, Grand Nationals, USRA B-Modifieds and Factory Stocks. Gates open at 5:00pm, hot laps at 6:45pm, and the first race gets under way at 7:30pm. Adult ticket prices are $12.00, kids 7-12 $6.00, and children 6 and younger admitted FREE. Senior Citizen’s and military personnel with ID are admitted for $10.
